Instrumental and Vocal Tuition

Tuition is given by experienced tutors either in schools or at Merton Music Centre. The choice of instruments offered at each school depends on the number of pupils who apply. If the instrument you require is not taught at your child's school you may apply to Merton Music Centre for lessons outside school hours. Group, shared or individual lessons may be requested, and there are choices for the length of lessons. Pupils generally start with group lessons of between three and six pupils depending on the type of instrument. More advanced pupils progress to tuition on a shared or individual basis.

We offer tuition across the full range of instruments:

Brass - Trumpet, French Horn, Trombone, Euphonium, Tuba
Strings - Violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass
Woodwind - Flute, Clarinet, Oboe, Bassoon, Saxophone
Electric Keyboard

Financial Assistance

Parents may apply for financial assistance from Merton Music Foundation Trust Fund. The principle criteria for obtaining this assistance is that the parent must currently be in receipt of Working Tax Credit or the child must be getting Free School Meals (excluding children in receipt of Universal Free School Meals).

Enquiries, which are treated in confidence, should be made to the Chief Executive of Merton Music Foundation. Please see our 'Financial Support' section for further information.
