Merton Music Foundation

About Us

Merton Music Foundation

We provide high quality music education for children throughout the London Borough of Merton. This is achieved by supporting local schools in the provision of an enriched music programme for all pupils, delivering whole class instrumental and singing tuition, offering instrumental and vocal tuition to individuals and small groups, and through running a wide range of bands, choirs, and ensembles.

We believe that music is for life and for everyone. Every single child deserves the chance to experience a rich musical education, both in and outside the school environment. At Merton Music Foundation we celebrate excellence and nurture the beginner. We are striving to ensure that barriers such as disability, ethnicity and household income do not prevent any Merton child from making music with us.

Top Tuition

Our committed team of friendly and professional tutors offers lessons across a wide range of instruments, including brass (trumpet, French horn, trombone, euphonium, tuba), strings (violin, viola, cello, double bass), woodwind (flute, clarinet, oboe, bassoon, saxophone), percussion (drum kit, world, tuned and orchestral percussion), piano, electric keyboard, recorder, guitar and voice. Lessons can be taught individually or in small groups for beginners, in schools, at our Music Centre (Harris Academy, Morden) or at Crown Lane Studio (for percussion).

Music Centre Activities

Our term-time Music Centre offers a range of musical groups, bands and ensembles providing opportunities to play with other musicians and to perform in concerts.

Supporting Schools

We work with Merton schools to deliver whole class instrumental and singing programmes as well as support and training for music coordinators.

Celebrating Excellence

We support and nurture young people who want to take their music to the next level. This could be finding performance opportunities or helping start a career in the music industry.
