Merton Music Presents…Stringfever at the New Wimbledon Theatre
Stringfever brings music, humour and energy to a packed theatre
More than 1,700 school children from across Merton filled the New Wimbledon Theatre last week for a spectacular live performance by the acclaimed string quartet Stringfever, presented by Merton Music Foundation as part of the Wimbledon International Music Festival.
The theatre came alive with singing, beatboxing, laughter and extraordinary musicianship, as Stringfever delivered two unforgettable concerts. Their trademark blend of music and humour captivated pupils and teachers alike, offering many young people their first ever experience of live music in a theatre setting.
The concert formed part of the Merton Music Presents… series, which brings high-quality, interactive performances to local schools, opening up opportunities for young people to explore music in exciting and accessible ways.
Chief among the day’s highlights were the quartet’s genre-hopping arrangements, moments of audience participation, and the infectious energy that rippled through the theatre from the first note to the last.
For Merton Music Foundation, events like this are a vital part of its mission to ensure that all children, regardless of background, have the chance to engage with music, be inspired by professional performers and discover their own creative potential.
This partnership with the Wimbledon International Music Festival continues to strengthen MMF’s commitment to exceptional music education and vibrant connections within the local community.
An inspiring celebration of creativity, connection and the power of live music – one these young audiences won’t soon forget.
