Merton Young Voices (ages 7–12)

Young Voices is our junior choir, offering an inspiring introduction to singing and musicianship for children aged 7-12. It’s ideal for young or beginner musicians looking to gain confidence, develop their musical skills, and experience the joy of singing in a group.

Through a wide variety of songs and musical games, members will:

  • Learn to sing in tune and with expression
  • Explore vocal range, pitch-matching, dynamics, and diction
  • Sing in two or more parts – Understand posture, breathing, and performance technique
  • Build core musicianship skills such as rhythm, pulse, phrasing, and pitch patterns

Singers also develop their ‘thinking voice’ – learning to hear music internally – and gain valuable ensemble experience in a supportive, friendly setting. Young Voices performs at the end of each term as part of MMF’s junior concerts, as well as at a range of exciting events and external venues throughout the year.

VoiceBox (ages 11–18)

VoiceBox is MMF’s senior choir for young people aged 11–18, offering a vibrant and supportive space to grow as a singer.

Building on the foundations developed in Young Voices, members explore a wide range of styles—including musical theatre, gospel, and jazz—with a focus on singing in 3–4 parts, developing vocal technique, and deepening ensemble and aural skills.

There are no auditions and no previous choral experience required—all voices are welcome, especially boys with changing voices.

Why Join?

  • Build confidence and vocal skills with expert tutors
  • Be part of a welcoming community of young singers
  • Perform at unforgettable concerts – including the Royal Albert Hall
