Research study

Researchers from the University of Roehampton have published their report on the Mini Musicians pilot programme. Mini Musicians is an innovative teaching approach devised and delivered by MMF in ten Merton primary and special schools between January 2023 and July 2025 with thanks to generous funding from Merton Council.

Key findings

The report highlights the inclusive nature of the project and its profound impact on all pupils – particularly those with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND).

Mini Musicians

Mini Musicians is an inclusive approach to teaching general musicianship and instrumental skills to children aged 4 – 7 at school. The pilot project was delivered in partnership with Merton Council, Sounds of Intent Charity and Sing Up with a comprehensive research study looking at the programme’s impact led by the University of Roehampton.
