Join MMF’s Youth Council!
MMF’s Youth Council is looking for new councillors who want to shape the future of music at MMF. If you’re in secondary school and take part in any MMF activity (lessons, ensembles, or classes), we want to hear from you!
What’s it all about?
As a MMF Youth Councillor you’ll get to:
💡Be the voice of young musicians in Merton
🎸Plan and run events, concerts & more
🌳Help make MMF better, like making it more environmentally friendly, suggesting new projects, or improving how things run
In the past few years councillors have:
🎤 Organised two summer festivals – with local bands, food stalls, activities and more.
🎸 Put on band nights and concerts
💰 Fundraised for MMF’s TEMPO Fund – running stalls and games and campaigning
🌱 Created a sustainability strategy, and won funding! Then managed the funding to make MMF a greener place
🏆Been shortlisted for the Music Mark “Youth Initiative of the Year” Award – a national award.
And MUCH more!
This document was made by the Youth Council to tell you what being a Youth Councillor is like and what kind of people they’re looking for to join.
Here’s what our councillors have to say about being part of the group:
“You get to experience things that normal musicians wouldn’t – like operating backstage at a concert!”
“I’ve learnt how to work in a team and how to be a leader”
“I’ve been able to make connections with other young musicians in Merton that I wouldn’t otherwise spend time with!”
How to apply:
To apply, you’ll need to fill in a short online form (or pick up a paper copy from a music centre).
It’s a few questions to find out about you, the music you like and why you’d like to join the council!
If you prefer – you can answer the questions on the form via a voice recording and send it to youth.council@mmf.org.uk!
