Youth Council

MMF’s Youth Council is made up of young musicians aged 11-18 who take part in MMF activities. They meet every 4-6 weeks at MMF’s South Wimbledon Music Centre. The Council lead projects, events & collaborations while shaping MMF’s strategy and policy.

The Council gives young people the chance to develop leadership and presentation skills, learn how to run and promote events, and collaborate with other young musicians.

Youth-Led Environmental Sustainability

The Council was jointly responsible with MMF leadership for developing the Foundation’s Environmental Sustainability Strategy and plays and active role in monitoring and delivering our annual Sustainability Action Plan.

MMF’s Youth Council Have:

  • Presented annually to the Board of Trustees

  • Organised and ran an annual summer festival for local young musicians

  • Developed a Sustainability Strategy, now part of MMF’s action plan.

  • Received internal and external funding for their sustainability strategy for their sustainability strategy

  • Collaborated with The National Trust and other external organisations

  • Hosted Band Nights for local bands/groups

  • Fundraised for MMF’s TEMPO fund

  • Been shortlisted as finalists for Music Mark’s national award for Youth Initiative of the year
