Day 1 – Travel Day

The first photos from our music tour have arrived, capturing some of the journey as our young musicians make their way to the Moselle Valley in Germany.

An early start, plenty of excitement and more than a little caffeine for the MMF team as the adventure gets underway. After travelling over land and sea, everyone has arrived safely — and we can’t wait to see what the next few days bring!

Day 2 – Kicking off the first concert of the tour in Bad Kreuznach

After yesterday’s long journey, our young musicians enjoyed a good night’s rest and are settling into tour life in the Moselle Valley. A big thank you to Jerome and Simon, our drivers from Ford’s Coaches, who have been fantastic.

There was a busy morning of rehearsals for all the groups as everyone prepared for the performances ahead. The pupils were also given their ‘tour duties’ and got to work practising quick and seamless set-ups and pack-downs for each of our concerts.

After lunch at the hostel – pasta with plenty of salad options – it was time to set off for Bad Kreuznach for our first concert of the tour.

Day 3: Theme park, Tour Ninja Championships & a fantastic evening concert

Day 3 of the tour was action-packed!

After breakfast, we headed off to Eifelpark theme park, where students (and staff!) spent the day exploring, enjoying the rides and attractions, and seeing the animals.

We then headed back to the hostel for a quick dinner before setting off for a wonderful evening concert at Enrich.

Our students were absolute pros at setting up, getting everything ready for the concert in record time. They were so quick, in fact, that there was even time for the inaugural Tour Ninja Championships – an energetic game played in a circle – before the concert began! Congratulations to Juliet, who triumphed over Frances and her fellow competitors to be crowned Ultimate Tour Ninja!

And then it was time to perform. The students were fantastic, delivering a brilliant concert that had the whole audience singing along to Hey Jude.

What a brilliant way to round off another busy day!

Day 4: Boat trip, concert & Open Mic Night

Day 4 was another busy day, packed with sightseeing, music and plenty of fun!

We started the morning with a gentle boat ride along the Moselle River, taking in the stunning scenery as we made our way to Cochem. Once there, our pupils headed up to the town’s elevated viewing platform by chairlift, enjoying spectacular views across the valley before exploring the town and stopping for lunch.

Next, it was on to Bad Bertrich for our third concert of the tour, this time in a beautiful hotel overlooking the town’s spa. After performing, we headed to a nearby restaurant for dinner before returning to the hostel for the evening’s highly anticipated Open Mic Night.

There were plenty of brilliant impromptu performances from our talented students and a very special ‘staff swap instruments’ band – with some of our staff members stepping well outside their musical comfort zones!

Another wonderful sunny day in the beautiful Moselle Valley, with plenty of memories made along the way.

Day 5: Activity park and the final concert of the tour

Our final full day of the tour was a brilliant mix of fun, music and plenty of special moments!

We started the day with a trip to Triolago Activity Park, where the group enjoyed a relaxing morning on the beach, as well as mini golf, pedalo rides and the water assault course (followed by a round of ice creams). Everyone had a blast.

After lunch, we travelled to Bernkastel Kues for our final concert of the tour. We were met by a wonderfully appreciative audience, and our young musicians gave a brilliant performance – despite the gusty breeze!

We have been collecting donations at each of our concerts throughout the tour, and we’re delighted to have raised around €1,000 for the TEMPO Fund. The generous donations have also helped us treat the children to ice creams and soft drinks along the way – a lovely way to say thank you for their fantastic performances!

Back at the hostel, and after dinner, we gathered together for our traditional final-night Tour Awards ceremony. It was a lovely opportunity to celebrate each child and their most memorable moments from the tour, as well as to recognise the incredible contribution of our staff team and our fantastic drivers, Simon and Jerome.

The evening ended with some free time for the pupils and plenty of warm goodbyes to our leavers, including Michael and Soo, who are both moving on from their roles at the end of this term.

What a fantastic trip it has been, with such a brilliant group of young musicians. We’ve made some wonderful memories and shared some very special moments – and we’re already looking forward to the next one!

Home again!

And just like that, our tour has come to an end and everyone is safely back home!

It’s been an incredible few days filled with fantastic music, new experiences, beautiful scenery and plenty of laughter. Our young musicians have been brilliant throughout the tour, performing with enthusiasm and professionalism at every concert and making memories that we hope they’ll treasure for years to come.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make the tour such a success – from our wonderful staff team and brilliant drivers, Simon and Jerome, to all the audiences who welcomed us so warmly and generously supported the TEMPO Fund.

Most of all, well done to our amazing young musicians. We’re incredibly proud of you all – and we can’t wait to see where the music takes you next!
