Merton Young Voices Choir
Merton Young Voices Choir

Young Voices is our junior choir, offering an inspiring introduction to singing and musicianship for children aged 7-12. It’s ideal for young or beginner musicians looking to gain confidence, develop their musical skills, and experience the joy of singing in a group.
Through a wide variety of songs and musical games, members will:
- Learn to sing in tune and with expression
- Explore vocal range, pitch-matching, dynamics, and diction
- Sing in two or more parts – Understand posture, breathing, and performance technique
- Build core musicianship skills such as rhythm, pulse, phrasing, and pitch patterns
Singers also develop their ‘thinking voice’ – learning to hear music internally – and gain valuable ensemble experience in a supportive, friendly setting. Young Voices performs at the end of each term as part of MMF’s junior concerts, as well as at a range of exciting events and external venues throughout the year.

Free Trial Rehearsals
Keep an eye out for our free Come & Play taster sessions, typically scheduled at the start of each term. During these sessions, your child will have the opportunity to join a choir, band, or ensemble rehearsal to see what it’s like. Which group(s) they get to try will depend on their instrument, age and ability.
