NB:
MYCB will rehearse in 2 separate ‘bubbles’ within the Main Hall. Bubble 1 should access the site via the pedestrian walkway leading to a glass door, Bubble 2 should access the site via the double gates into the car park and proceed via the playground.
MYJO pupils will be required to vacate the Main Hall between MYCB and MYJO to allow this space to air. If the weather is fair, they will go to the playground (so bring a coat!).
Our new Music Centre location is:
Merton Abbey Primary School, High Path, London SW19 2JY.
This lovely new venue is right next door to the new Harris Academy Wimbledon site and between South Wimbledon tube station (4-min walk) and the Tandem Centre (4-min drive).
Drop-Off/Parking:
Due to COVID restrictions, parents/guardians will not be permitted on site.
We kindly request that pupils are dropped-off outside of the school and make their own way in via the pedestrian entrance to the car park. Follow the path to access the building via the glass door - please look out for staff and signage to direct you.
There is no on-site parking. Spaces may be found in the adjacent streets or alternatively at B&Q or Sainsburys nearby.
Please note that the MMF main office will still be based at Harris Academy Morden.
We have implemented a comprehensive range of protocols including ventilation, distancing and hygiene measures to ensure the safety of our learning community. Pupils will also be kept in 'bubbles' of no more than 15 in accordance with Government guidelines; this will impact on capacity and rehearsal scheduling.
You will shortly be able to read our full Risk Assessment here.
Please note:
No parents/guardians on site
Pupils and staff to wear a face covering at all times whilst on site except for when seated in their designated place for rehearsal
Strict 2 metre distancing to be observed at all times
Everyone must wash/sanitise their hands upon entry and regularly throughout the time on site
Do not attend if you or a member of your household is displaying COVID symptoms or has tested positive
Each pupil can only attend one group with exceptions for some pupils in DrumLine, Merton Mallets, MYCB and MYJO where pupil 'bubbles' can be maintained.
Please don't remain on site any longer than necessary
Please do not travel to Music Centre with people from outside your household
If you have any questions about our COVID procedures, please contact: david.rees@mmf.org.uk

MYJO / Merton Mallets
As these groups haven't been rehearsing online, we will provide individual parts for all players in MYJO/Mallets.
We plan to resume a small number of in-person 1-1 lessons at the new Merton Abbey venue from January 2021. Capacity will be severely restricted. Priority will be given to existing online pupils and in order of application to our Waiting List.
We will update this page in the coming days with more information about 1-1 lessons at Music Centre.
We will continue to closely monitor guidelines from the government and Arts Council England with regards to to the safe delivery of band rehearsals for our Music Centre members.
We plan to to re-introduce regular in-person rehearsals for our Saturday morning and Wednesday evening groups in the Spring Term (from January 2021). Due to COVID protocols and staffing considerations, it will be necessary to make some adjustments to the timetabling of these groups - we will be updating this page with more information soon.
