Soundwave brings high-energy music sessions to Mitcham after school on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, offering a mix of music technology classes, instrumental lessons and ukulele groups. It’s perfect for young people who want to explore music in creative ways – from writing and recording their own tracks to learning an instrument or playing in a band in a fun, inclusive environment. No experience needed – just enthusiasm!

Timetable

Tuesdays, Thursdays & Fridays after school

Fridays (term time): 3:30 – 4:30pm

Learn to create music using digital software from our resident tutor Ben. This course involves a mixture of production, song creation and DJing techniques.

Sign-up includes a full Soundtrap licence that can be used to access your projects from home.

Some experience of music theory or DJ/production software needed.

Beginners/up to 1 year’s experience playing drums, bass, guitar or piano/keyboard.

Our entry-level programme designed for students between Years 3-6. These bands (which are both at the same level) welcomes all beginners or those who have been learning drums, bass, guitar or piano/keyboard for under a year as well as singers. Dive into new skills and repertoire, and learn the fundamentals of rock and pop band performance!

Group A: 4.30 – 5.00pm

Thanks to support from The Jack Lonergan Foundation, we are pleased to offer a limited number of fully funded spots for our Music Production and DJs classes to students who meet any of the following criteria:

  • Is in receipt of Free School Meals (excluding UIFSM) or Pupil Premium Grant funding.
  • Has an additional learning need. (e.g. on the school’s SEND register, identify as being neurodivergent, identify as being disabled).
  • Is a member of a historically under-represented community; we are particularly interested in hearing from young people of Black or Black British heritage.
  • Is a member of the LGBTQIA+ community.
  • Is care-experienced (currently or has previously been a Child Looked After), or is a Young Carer (someone who helps to care for a family member or other relative).
