This year, MMF turns 30!
To mark the occasion, we’re inviting all our Music Centre groups to participate in a virtual performance of Sister Sledge’s We Are Family, which has been specially arranged for us by Raph Clarkson.
To take part in We Are Family, Music Centre students are invited to submit a video recording (even though only the audio will be used this time) of them singing/playing along to the backing track by Saturday 13th February.
The audio recordings will be professionally mixed and set to a video montage of MMF photos, going back into the archives as far as we can, with the final video released in time for our birthday on Friday 12th March.
We Are Family was originally planned as the opener to our 2021 Royal Albert Hall concert. That event has been postponed to 2022, but we have several other plans in the pipeline to ensure that we celebrate this very significant milestone throughout the year – watch this space for more details!
Uploading Your Recording
• Earphones/headphones
• A willing helper (a family member to video the performance
• Two devices (mobile phone, tablet, laptop etc.) - one for your child to listen to the demo and the other for the person videoing it - we would recommend using the camera (video) function on a mobile phone/tablet
• We Are Family backing track to sing/play along to (click on the link below and select your child's group folder to access all the resources including music, lyrics and backing tracks)
'WE ARE FAMILY' RESOURCES
Your child's Music Centre group(s) will be rehearsing this piece leading up to the deadline but please encourage your child to get in as much practice at home before you hit the record button.
We would advise you to video the performance even though we will only be using the audio (this is because the audio quality will be better).
Choose a quiet room, performers will need to listen to the backing track on earphones/headphones on one device as they sing/play along. This is really important as we only want to hear their voice/instrument on the recording.
You should start recording just before they start playing the backing track.
It’s OK to record multiple takes (just like you would in a real recording studio) and you can send us your best performance.
Well done! When your child is happy with their performance, you will need to upload the video file using the link below…
UPLOAD VIDEO
The child's parent/guardian will need a Gmail/Google Account to upload the audio file. If they don’t have one click here - the sign-up process is very simple.
