If your child did not take part in online lessons, it is necessary for you to re-enrol them for the autumn Term. Due to social distancing, spaces may be limited so we will be operating a first-come, first-served waiting list in our schools.
You can re-enrol your child via your Live Parent account.
These lessons will be fulfilled in-person where possible and online when not. If you wish to apply for our In-Person Lessons Only Waiting List, please click here.
NB: it may not be possible to resume in-person teaching in some schools until social distancing requirements are relaxed. All in-person lessons will be subject to moving online in the event of local lockdown, school closures and/or tutor or pupil self-isolation. Please see below for further details.
We are already back to teaching in-person lessons in several Merton schools; in other schools we need a little more time to ensure that all the appropriate safety measures are in place. Some schools simply don’t have the space to facilitate safe socially distanced instrumental lessons and so tuition must continue online in these settings.
We understand that many parents prefer the convenience of in-school lessons. If this is the case, we ask you to let us know when making your application - either by phone/email or in the 'notes' of our online enrolment form.
Your child will remain on the waiting list until such time that in-person lessons can be safely facilitated in their school. This will be dependent on the availability of a teaching space with sufficient ventilation that is large enough to accommodate 2 metre social distancing. It may be the case that this simply is not possible, in which case in-school lessons may not be able to resume until after social distancing measures have been relaxed.
The restrictions of social distancing in lessons will have a serious impact on the availability of instrumental teaching spaces in schools. Therefore, spaces for in-person lessons may be limited.
Pupils that are participating in online lessons with us will be given priority and automatically transitioned back to in-person teaching as soon as this can be done safely.
We will be operating a first-come, first-served waiting list for all other pupils. Priority for in-person teaching will be given to younger pupils that may find online learning more challenging and pupils that do not have access to their instrument at home (e.g. orchestral percussion, drum kit etc.)
It may be possible for you to book in-person lessons at one of our Music Centres; however spaces will be limited and priority given to existing online Music Centre pupils. Please contact us for more information.
Yes! We see online teaching as a new core strand in our lesson delivery. The convenience of learning from home and accessibility it gives pupils to our full range of talented instrumental teachers are silver linings to this very difficult situation. We have created a new ‘Online Music School’ where we are able to offer pupils of all ages, including adults access to lessons on every instrument that we offer.
If you would prefer for your child’s lessons to continue online, please discuss this with their instrumental teacher and let us know by emailing: admin@mmf.org.uk
Where lessons are disrupted due to Covid-19 (for example school closure, local lockdown, self-isolation of tutor or pupil), lessons will be fulfilled online or in-person at a later point in the academic year.
Where a suitable alternative method of lesson delivery has been offered, MMF will not issue refunds for in-person lessons missed due to Covid-19. This helps us to protect the livelihoods of our instrumental tutor team, who as professional musicians are amongst some of the worst-hit financially by this terrible virus. If your tutor is unable to fulfil your child’s lessons online or at a later point in the academic year, MMFs normal refund policy applies and the value of missed lessons will be credited to your account or offered as a refund.
