Wimbledon Tennis Championships

A Longstanding MMF Tradition
For over 20 years, young musicians from Merton Music Foundation have performed at the Wimbledon Championships – an annual highlight in our calendar and a lasting memory for the hundreds who progress through our bands.

Each summer, as the gates open to the public, Merton Youth Concert Band and Merton Youth Jazz Orchestra (performing on Days 11 and 12 respectively) set the tone with the official Wimbledon theme, Purple and Green, before launching into a lively two-hour set. This year, we were thrilled to welcome back the Singing Groundsman for a surprise guest appearance with MYJO.
