Merton Music Foundation

Online Learning

In response to the social distancing measures put in place during the Covid-19 pandemic, Merton Music Foundation successfully launched an E-Learning platform offering online instrumental tuition and various group music-making activities to the young people of Merton. Our tutors use Zoom Online Video Conferencing to deliver live E-lessons and group rehearsals. Head over to our E-Music Centre page to see what group activities your child could join at our online Music Centre.

COVID-19 Emergency Fund

We are a looking for young people (7 – 18 years of age) who:

  • Live or go to school in the London Borough of Merton
  • Demonstrate an enthusiasm and/or aptitude for learning an instrument
  • Have been prevented from participating in instrumental learning by the impact of COVID-19 or have suffered family trauma as a result of COVID-19.

If you know a young person that meets these criteria, they could apply for our COVID-19 Instrumental Lesson Bursary to receive at least a 75% subsidy on the price of instrumental lessons and free Music Centre membership.

Lessons From September

We are now taking bookings for the academic year 2020-2021, due to start in September 2020. We are pleased to confirm that all MMF fees have been frozen at our 2019-2020 prices.

We will facilitate face-to-face teaching where it is safe to do so, with rigorous distancing and hygiene protocols. This will be dependent on the available teaching space at your child’s school. It is therefore likely that in most cases pupils will continue with online learning initially.

As/when it is safe for your child’s lesson to take place in school or one of our Morden-based Music Centres, we will transition you back to face-to-face teaching. If a second wave causes another lockdown, we will simply return to online learning.

Prices below are for lessons online and in Merton schools. Fees are payable termly via invoice, prices displayed are for 10 lessons.

  • Individual 15 Minute Lesson = £135
  • Individual 20 Minute Lesson = £159
  • Individual 30 Minute Lesson = £207

Please note that we are not currently able to offer shared/group lessons online.

Prices for lessons that take place at our Music Centre are a little higher because we rent the space. Whilst your child’s lessons remain online, you will benefit from our lower school-lesson prices.

Need to hire an instrument?

It is possible to hire an instrument from us, however we are currently running a reduced service due to Covid-19. If you indicate that you would like to hire an instrument from us, we will contact you to arrange safe collection.
